Hurricanes’ football facility gets upgrade, softball program temporarily paused

The University of Miami’s plans for a $100 million football operations center and a softball program are currently on hold, according to UM athletic director Dan Radakovich. The focus has shifted to other facility improvements, such as extending the indoor practice facility and building a new weight room to benefit student-athletes.

The school had previously considered adding a softball program, but those plans are now paused due to recent developments in intercollegiate athletics. Radakovich emphasized the importance of ensuring that any new program is successful and implemented at a high level.

In other news, Miami has sold out its allotment of 4,000 tickets for the Hurricanes’ Week 1 opener against Florida. The game, set to take place in the Swamp, will be an exciting opportunity for Miami to face off against a tough opponent in a historic stadium. The two teams are set to play again in Miami in 2025 as part of a home-and-home series.

Radakovich expressed his excitement for the upcoming game and hinted that there may be future discussions about renewing the series. Overall, the University of Miami is focused on providing the best opportunities for its student-athletes and building successful athletic programs.
