Hezbollah drones did not succeed in killing IDF chief Herzi Halevi

The false claim that Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi was killed in a Hezbollah drone attack circulated on social media. The claim included a photo of Halevi with a red X and dot on his forehead. However, Halevi was not killed in the attack. In fact, he made a public appearance the day after the attack. The attack involved Hezbollah launching drones at an Israeli military base, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers and injuries to 61 individuals. Photos of Halevi visiting the base the day after the attack were shared by the IDF and published by The Times of Israel. The author of the post did not provide evidence to support the claim when contacted by USA TODAY. AFP also debunked the claim. The false information was spread on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter but was quickly debunked. This incident highlights the importance of fact-checking and verifying information before sharing it on social media platforms.
