A Sunday afternoon errand at a Pompano Beach gas station turned into a life-threatening situation when a man tried to force himself into a car with a woman and her children inside. Brian Semil, 37, of Pompano Beach was fatally shot by one of the men who intervened during the altercation. The incident took place at the Racetrac gas station on Atlantic Boulevard, with 911 calls revealing the chaotic scene.
The woman, who was in the car with her family, called 911 for help as Semil tried to get inside the vehicle. She was rescued by a man who stepped forward to help, but a confrontation ensued, leading to Semil being shot. Other customers at the gas station also called 911, reporting a man with a gun and the unfolding violence.
Semil, who has a history of felony arrests, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The three men who intervened in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the case and will forward it to the State Attorney’s Office for further action.
The dramatic events shocked customers at the gas station, who found themselves in the midst of a life-or-death situation. The community is waiting for more details to emerge as the investigation continues.
