Channel 4 has announced a new lifestyle show called ‘Escape to Florida’, which will give viewers a glimpse into the lives of Brits who have made the Sunshine State their home. The 20-part series, created by Waddell Media, will explore the experiences of expats who have chosen to start afresh in Florida.
Executive producer Jannine Waddell MBE expressed excitement about the project, highlighting the diverse characters and stories that will be featured. Despite the distance from the UK, Florida has become a popular destination for Brits, with a growing ex-pat community and familiar establishments like English pubs and pie shops.
Senior Commissioning Editor Jayne Stanger noted the allure of Florida’s sunshine, beaches, and lack of language barrier for many Brits looking for a change of scenery. The show will delve into the challenges of navigating life in a state with no income tax but extreme weather and alligators.
Director Jo Street emphasized Channel 4’s commitment to showcasing British stories through ‘Escape to Florida’ and praised the positive and sunny format of the series. The show is part of a trend of property-themed programs commissioned by the broadcaster.
An air date for ‘Escape to Florida’ has yet to be announced, but viewers can expect an entertaining and insightful look at the lives of Brits who have chosen to make Florida their new home.
