UCF is gearing up for a tough two-game stretch this weekend as they face off against No. 19 Wisconsin and either LSU or Pittsburgh at the Greenbrier Tip-Off. Coach Johnny Dawkins believes these games will help prepare his team for the challenges they will face in the Big 12 conference. The Knights have started the season with a perfect 4-0 record, including a notable win against then-No. 13 Texas A&M. The team is led by senior guard Darius Johnson and transfers Jordan Ivy-Curry and Keyshawn Hall. Hall has been impressive, scoring 20-plus points in back-to-back games. UCF’s defense has been strong, allowing just 73 points per game and holding opponents to 41% shooting. However, their shooting has been inconsistent, connecting on just 44% of their shots and ranking 196th in the nation in 3-point shooting. This weekend’s games will be a significant test for the Knights as they look to continue their success and build momentum heading into Big 12 play. Wisconsin has already defeated a Big 12 opponent this season and is projected to be a tough matchup for UCF. The Knights will need to work on guarding without fouling and defending the 3-point shot to come out on top. Despite the challenges ahead, Dawkins sees these games as opportunities for growth and believes they will help the team continue to improve.
