Russia recently sent two brown bears, a lion, a couple of yaks, five cockatoos, 25 pheasants, and 40 mandarin ducks to North Korea as a gift. The animals were escorted by Russian officials and wildlife experts from Moscow Zoo to Pyongyang. This gesture highlights the growing diplomatic relationship between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. This gift comes as North Korea has sent troops to support Russia in the ongoing war in Ukraine, and North Korea has also sent artillery shells and missiles to aid Russia in its invasion.
The alliance between Russia and North Korea has strengthened over the years, as both countries have faced sanctions from the West. Putin has previously gifted animals to North Korea, including horses, eagles, and parrots. In response to Russia’s escalation in Ukraine, President Joe Biden recently lifted a ban on Ukraine using U.S. long-range missiles to strike deep inside Russia.
On Thursday, Ukraine reported that Russia had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile towards its territory, marking the first use of such a powerful, long-range missile during the war. This move is seen as a significant escalation. The situation in Ukraine remains tense, with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine ongoing as they approach the three-year mark since the invasion began.
