Scott Bessent, the former Soros Fund Management chief investment officer, has been nominated by Donald Trump to lead the Treasury Department. Other nominations include Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer to head the Labor Department, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as U.S. Surgeon General, and Russell Vought as Office of Management and Budget director.
Bessent, who founded Key Square Capital Management in 2015 and supports Trump’s economic policy, is expected to help maintain the U.S. Dollar’s position as the “Reserve Currency of the World.” Chavez-DeRemer, a one-term Oregon representative and former mayor, is aimed at supporting American workers and creating opportunities, while Nesheiwat, a Fox News medical contributor, is known for advocating preventive medicine and public health.
Other picks by Trump include Marty Makary as FDA commissioner, Dave Weldon as CDC director, and Russell Vought as OMB director. Additionally, Scott Turner has been nominated to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Trump’s Cabinet picks so far include individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, including Sen. Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, Pam Bondi as Attorney General, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Various other nominations have been made for key positions in the administration, pending Senate approval.
