State Sen. Randy Fine has officially resigned from his Senate District 19 seat, effective March 31, in order to pursue a candidacy in Florida’s 6th Congressional District. Fine, a Palm Bay Republican, cited his concern for the future of his children’s education as his motivation for entering politics almost a decade ago. He expressed his pride in leading efforts to transform education in Florida during his time in the legislature.
Fine emphasized his concerns about the state of the country, including issues such as wokeism, anti-Semitism, illegal immigration, inflation, and the nation’s finances. He stated his belief that former President Trump represents the country’s best chance for improvement and that he can contribute to that effort by running for Congress.
As per Florida law, Fine had to resign from his Senate seat before running for a new position. A Special Election will be called to replace him in the Senate.
In CD 6, a Special Election was already called to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz, with a Primary scheduled for January 28 and a Special General Election on April 1. Fine’s last day in the Senate will be March 31, and candidates for the seat must qualify in early December.
Fine’s resignation from the Senate marks the end of his service in the Florida Legislature as he prepares to transition to a new role in Congress, where he hopes to continue fighting for the interests of Floridians.
