New Hallmark Movie “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” Centers on Romance Inspired by NFL’s Travis Kelce and Singer Taylor Swift
The new Hallmark movie “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” is set to air soon, featuring a romance loosely inspired by the high-profile relationship between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift. The film includes NFL tie-ins, with appearances from Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, players, and Donna Kelce, the mother of Travis and his brother, Jason.
Both Hallmark and the NFL are looking to expand their audiences, with a large following of fans already invested in the Swift-Kelce romance. Hallmark’s “Countdown to Christmas” viewership includes many sports fans, and the channel and the football league share similar audiences.
The movie follows a Chiefs megafan vying for the “Fan of the Year” award and the team’s director of fan engagement evaluating her candidacy. Along the way, the loss of a lucky vintage Chiefs hat throws a wrench into their developing relationship. The film features surprise appearances from Chiefs players, including Donna Kelce, wearing a No. 87 jersey as a nod to her son Travis.
In addition to her role in “Holiday Touchdown,” Donna Kelce will make her acting debut in a different Hallmark movie set in Philadelphia. The movie industry is recognizing the power of tapping into the Swiftie fandom, as Lifetime released a rival holiday movie centered on a singer in love with a football player. Hallmark plans to debut a total of 47 new movies for its 15th annual “Countdown to Christmas” event.
