Americans rush to celebrate Thanksgiving in 2024


Students and faculty from the Phoenix Center in Nutley, NJ, participated in the 8th annual turkey trot with the help and support of student ambassadors from Washington Elementary School on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024. The event included participants like Matt and Gabriel, 6th grade ambassadors, who stretched before the race. The kids ran in the West Bridgewater Youth Athletic Association Turkey Trot 5K run and walk at Friendship Park in West Bridgewater, Mass., on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024. Students like Hadassa, 7, were assisted by others, including Jena, Shira, and Johanna, as they made their way to the finish line. The event also had Laurie Shea and Diane Gilleece registering for the race. The Phoenix Center participants, such as Makhi and James, were cheered on as they crossed the finish line holding their ribbons. The event was enriched with cheers from student ambassadors like Gianna, Abigail, and others, under the supervision of Dara Moscaritola, a gym teacher at Washington School. The community came together for various turkey trots, including the one held in honor of former student George Njuguna at Angelo Elementary School in Brockton, Mass. The participants received support and encouragement from supervisors like Eileen Mulcahy and Amy Bollinger, making the event a heartwarming and inclusive experience for all.
