A Title IX complaint has been filed against University of Florida men’s basketball coach Todd Golden, accusing him of sexual harassment that includes sending lewd photos while traveling with the team. Golden has stated that he is cooperating with the university’s investigation while maintaining confidentiality and has retained an attorney for a potential defamation case. Despite the allegations, Golden has led the No. 21 Gators to a 2-0 start this season.
Golden, 39, took over the Florida program after a successful stint at San Francisco and has a record of 42-29 through two-plus seasons. He recently signed a contract extension through the 2029-30 season. The allegations against Golden are the latest in a series of off-field scandals that have plagued the university’s athletic department under director Scott Stricklin, with women’s basketball coach Cameron Newbauer resigning in 2021 and women’s soccer coach Tony Amato being fired in 2022 due to concerns about their conduct.
Despite the controversy surrounding Golden, the Gators are set to play their next game at home against Grambling State on Monday. The university has yet to make a decision regarding Golden’s future with the team, but the coach and his family remain hopeful that the investigation will be resolved promptly.
