Darius Johnson leads UCF to victory against Milwaukee

UCF men’s basketball had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, thanks to a standout performance by senior guard Darius Johnson. Johnson scored a season-high 28 points, leading the Knights to an 84-76 victory over Milwaukee. This was his second consecutive game of scoring 20 or more points after a strong showing against LSU.

Coach Johnny Dawkins praised Johnson’s leadership on the court, highlighting his comfort in his role and ability to run the team. Johnson’s sharp shooting, going 8 of 10 from 3-point range, was a key factor in the Knights’ win.

Despite a slow start, UCF rallied to take the lead in the first half and held on to secure the victory. Johnson’s stellar performance was supported by guard Jordan Ivy-Curry, who contributed 14 points.

Center Moustapha Thiam missed the game due to an undisclosed injury, but players like Dior Johnson and Tyler Hendricks stepped up in his absence. Coach Dawkins emphasized the importance of players seizing opportunities when they arise.

The Knights had faced tough losses in a recent tournament, leading to a drop in the rankings. Poor shooting had been a concern for the team, but Johnson’s standout performance against Milwaukee showed promise for the season ahead.

UCF will face Cal Baptist next, with the game scheduled for Sunday at Addition Financial Arena and will be televised on ESPN+.
