The 2024 Florida Blue Florida Classic concluded with the Florida A&M University Rattlers triumphing over the Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats 41-38 in front of a record-breaking attendance of 56,452 fans. This victory extended the Rattlers’ winning streak in the series to four games, marking the first Classic win for head coach James Colzie III.
Thad Franklin, Jr. ran for 195 yards with three touchdowns for the Rattlers, earning team MVP honors, while Dennis Palmer rushed for 178 yards with three scores for the Wildcats. Despite B-CU taking an early lead, FAMU rallied with a strong running game and solid defensive play.
Key players included Kelvin Dean and Daniel Richardson for FAMU, as well as Cam’Ron Ransom and Maleek Huggins for B-CU. The Rattlers’ defense, led by Nay’Ron Jenkins, held strong throughout the game.
The excitement wasn’t just limited to the field, as fans enjoyed pregame festivities, food, and tailgating outside the stadium. The event showcased the community spirit and rivalry between the two universities, with supporters donning their respective school colors.
Both teams displayed determination and sportsmanship, making the Classic a memorable experience for players and fans alike. Bethune-Cookman’s season came to an end, while Florida A&M will close out its season at home against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. The game, originally scheduled for September, was rescheduled due to Hurricane Helene.
