The Florida Gators dominated the Wichita State basketball team with a blowout 88-51 victory in the championship game of the ESPN Events Invitational. The Gators showcased their strong defense, holding the Shockers to just 20 percent shooting in the first half and only 30 percent for the game. Florida went on a 27-0 run in the first half, taking a commanding 37-13 lead at halftime.
In addition to their stellar defense, the Gators had their best offensive performance of the season. They hit 14 3-pointers, with Walter Clayton Jr. leading the way with 19 points. Alex Condon contributed 17 points and 9 rebounds, while Rueben Chinyelu added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. The Gators also continued their trend of forcing turnovers, recording 6 steals in the game.
After struggling with their shooting in the previous game against Wake Forest, UF found their rhythm and cruised to victory against Wichita State. With this win, the Gators solidified their status as a formidable team with one of the most tenacious defenses in the country. The team’s performance in the championship game cemented their position as a force to be reckoned with in future matchups.
