Vito the pug made history by becoming the first of his breed to win the Best in Show title at the 2024 National Dog Show. Competing against around 2,000 dogs from 205 breeds, Vito impressed judges with his compact features and movement. Co-owner Carolyn Koch expressed pride in Vito’s win, calling pugs her favorite breed.
The annual Thanksgiving Day canine competition also featured other impressive dogs, including Houston the Clumber Spaniel and Verde the Welsh terrier. However, it was Vito who ultimately stole the show, wowing judges with his charm and personality. His handler, Michael Scott, was optimistic about Vito’s chances and praised the pooch’s beautiful head and expression.
Vito’s win marks a significant milestone, as he follows in the footsteps of Stache the Sealyham terrier, who was also a first-time winner at the National Dog Show. The competition, hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia and presented by Purina, highlights some of the best dogs in America, with thousands of pups vying for the coveted Best in Show title.
Vito’s success brings joy not only to his owners but also to dog lovers everywhere. With his winning personality and charm, Vito proves that even small dogs can have a big impact.
