Canadian actor Julien Arnold dies while performing in ‘Christmas Carol’


Actor Julien Arnold tragically passed away during a production of “A Christmas Carol” in Canada at the age of 59. He suffered a medical emergency during the show at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta, where paramedics attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful. Arnold played the roles of Marley and Mr. Fezziwig in the play.

Citadel Theatre’s Executive Director and Artistic Director announced scheduling changes in light of Arnold’s death and dedicated the remaining production of the season to honoring his legacy. Arnold was described as a beloved actor and cherished member of the Edmonton theater community with charisma and talent that brought joy to every role he played.

Arnold was a founding member of the Free Will Players theater group and had a distinguished career playing various roles in productions such as “Twelfth Night,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “A Midsummer’s Night Dream.” A GoFundMe page has been set up to support his wife and cover funeral expenses, which has raised over $42,000.

The cause of Arnold’s death has not been shared with the public, but his passing has deeply impacted the theater community in Edmonton and beyond. The remaining performances of “A Christmas Carol” will be dedicated to honoring his memory and contributions to the arts.
