Explosion in Kosovo blamed on Serbia, causing water and power outages

A powerful explosion in Kosovo damaged a water canal, disrupting water and power supply to cities. Prime Minister Albin Kurti blamed Belgrade and Milan Radoicic for the explosions that also targeted police stations and local authorities in the north. Radoicic, linked to Serbia’s ruling party, was charged in connection with a fatal gunfight last year. Serbia’s Foreign Minister condemned the explosion but criticized Kurti’s accusations as premature. The EU and the US called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. Kosovo-Serbia relations remain tense despite international efforts to normalize them following Kosovo’s independence in 2008. NATO-led peacekeepers have increased their presence in Kosovo. The international community is urging both sides to implement agreements made last year, including the establishment of an Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities in Kosovo. tensions remain high following recent violence in the region.
