Knights gear up for packed offseason

After a disappointing 4-8 season, UCF is gearing up for a busy transfer portal window on Dec. 9. Quarterback EJ Colson, a highly regarded recruit who started as a freshman, is one of the players leaving the program. Safety Bryon Threats, receiver Xavier Townsend, kicker Colton Boomer, linebacker Kam Moore, and linebacker Kaven Call are also departing. Threats and Boomer were primarily backups, while Townsend was a key receiver and kick returner. Moore provided depth at linebacker, and Call’s departure was under controversial circumstances. The departures leave UCF with holes to fill on both offense and defense as they look to rebound from a tough season. Despite the losses, the team will look to recruit new talent for the upcoming season. For any inquiries, please contact Matt Murschel at mmurschel@orlandosentinel.com.
