Florida law enforcement officials and first responders in Hillsborough County sprang into action on Saturday evening to rescue over a dozen people after their boat was damaged by a wave. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when a wave struck the boat, causing three passengers to be thrown into the water. A nearby good Samaritan helped pull the individuals out of the water before deputies arrived.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office aviation section guided marine deputies to the scene. Some of the passengers sustained minor injuries, but everyone was safely transported to a nearby marina by the sheriff’s office marine section and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, where EMS was waiting.
Sheriff Chad Chronister commended the joint effort of the different sections and agencies involved in the successful rescue operation. He expressed gratitude for being able to bring all individuals to safety and praised the deputies and HCFR for their outstanding efforts.
