A suspected gunman targeted a private religious school in Northern California, shooting and critically injuring two kindergarten students before later killing himself. The gunman, identified as Glenn Litton, had a history of mental illness and made up a fake story to access the school. The two injured boys, ages 5 and 6, sustained gunshot wounds and were in critical but stable condition. Litton’s criminal record included theft, identity theft, forgery, and fraud, but no history of violent crimes. He may have targeted the school due to its affiliation with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Litton had mental health issues documented since he was 16 and had made concerning searches and notes about planning a mass incident. The attack, occurring during the school’s noon break, was described as an isolated incident. Litton’s motive involving the U.S.’s involvement in the Middle East and the Seventh Day Adventist Church remains unclear. Law enforcement secured the campus, and students were safely moved to a nearby location to be reunited with their families. The incident is one of many school shootings in recent years that have sparked debates about gun control. The investigation revealed Litton had an alternative target and had scheduled an appointment with another Seventh-Day Adventist school in Red Bluff.
