High school teacher Steve McCrea from Broward County expressed concern over the proposed mass deportation program by the new administration, which could result in some of his students being removed from his classroom. He mentioned feeling like an accomplice to their parents’ crime of entering the country illegally by teaching these students. McCrea is looking forward to the midterm elections in 2026.
Michael Simon from Boynton Beach discussed the possibility of inflation if agricultural wages were to rise high enough to attract American workers, causing businesses to pass on higher costs to consumers. He warned that prices of products could go up if mass deportation leads to a shortage of undocumented workers willing to work for low wages.
Meanwhile, Mark Goldstein from Boca Raton blamed Kamala Harris’ loss in the election on her handling of the economy and immigration issues. He argued that Trump’s ability to market himself better was a contributing factor, but not the main reason for Harris’ defeat.
Lastly, Charles Terban from Hollywood clarified that a fetus is not a baby, responding to a previous letter claiming abortion is killing a baby. He emphasized that life is filled with choices and he would never tell a person what is best for them in such a delicate matter.
