The Florida Everblades came up short in a 4-2 loss against the Jacksonville Icemen on Friday night at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Colton Hargrove scored two goals for the Everblades, but a three-goal second period by Jacksonville proved to be the difference in the game. Brendan Harris scored first for Jacksonville, leading to a teddy bear toss on the ice. Despite Hargrove’s efforts to keep the Everblades in the game, Jacksonville secured the win with goals from Jonathan Hampton, Chris Grando, and Chris Brown. Hargrove scored his second goal on a power play in the third period. The Everblades were unable to close the gap despite several good opportunities late in the game. With this loss, the Everblades still maintain the ECHL’s top record at 15-4-1-0. The two teams will meet again at Hertz Arena on Saturday for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. All bears tossed onto the ice will be donated to Golisano Children’s Hospital. Overall, this was Jacksonville’s first win over the Everblades in three attempts this season. The game saw a total of 24 shots on goal for each team. For more information on upcoming games and events, visit floridaeverblades.com.
