Celebrity Cruises made history this week by setting sail from Florida’s Port Canaveral for the first time ever. The cruise line departed on a week-long journey aboard its Celebrity Equinox ship, offering travelers access to seven-night voyages to destinations such as the Bahamas, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, and more. Additionally, Celebrity will sail to Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Laura Hodges Bethge, the president of Celebrity Cruises, expressed excitement about the new homeport, stating that it provides guests with the flexibility for their perfect Caribbean getaway. On board the Celebrity Equinox, guests can enjoy an array of food and beverage options, activities like Pickleball and glass blowing classes, and more.
Port Canaveral, located on Florida’s Space Coast, offers access to popular destinations such as NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and Cocoa Beach. In addition to Celebrity, the port serves other major cruise lines like Carnival Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line.
Celebrity has plans to expand its presence at Port Canaveral in winter 2025 with 7-night sailings on the Celebrity Apex. Overall, the cruise line operates more than a dozen ships, ranging from the oldest, Celebrity Millennium, to the newest Celebrity Ascent. Celebrity’s expansion to Port Canaveral provides travelers with even more options for their next Caribbean vacation.
