Matt Gaetz secures talk show on OANN after stepping down as attorney general nominee

Former Congressman Matt Gaetz, who recently withdrew his name from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general, will be joining the conservative One America News Network (OANN) to host a weeknight political talk show starting in January at 9 p.m. Eastern. Gaetz will also co-host a weekly video podcast with OANN’s Dan Ball. The move comes after scrutiny over sex-trafficking allegations led to Gaetz’s decision to step back from the attorney general nomination.

OANN, which has limited television distribution compared to Fox News Channel and Newsmax, sees Gaetz’s hiring as a significant step. Charles Herring, network president, expressed confidence in Gaetz’s ability to provide insights and analysis of the incoming administration for viewers. The network is also expanding its visibility by utilizing other media forms such as streaming, podcasts, and social media.

Gaetz’s replacement as Trump’s attorney general nominee was Pam Bondi, former Florida attorney general. Gaetz faced investigations by the U.S. Justice Department and the House Ethics Committee for alleged sexual misconduct involving underage girls, a charge he has vehemently denied.

The addition of Gaetz as a host on OANN signals the network’s commitment to providing a conservative perspective in the media landscape and solidifies its position in the competition for conservative viewers. With a prime time slot and high expectations for the new show, OANN is poised to increase its influence in the conservative media landscape.
