A recent poll conducted among Florida Republican Primary voters shows strong support for President Donald Trump and the Republican-controlled Legislature, despite a public fight over immigration policy with Governor Ron DeSantis. The poll, conducted by pollster Tony Fabrizio, reveals that 90% of Republican Primary voters approve of Trump’s job performance, and 83% approve of the Legislature’s work. However, voters are against the Governor’s plan to restrict the state’s ballot initiative process.
The Legislature recently passed the TRUMP Act, a bill focusing on immigration and border security, which the Governor has threatened to veto. The poll also shows support for policies such as repealing in-state tuition for undocumented immigrants and requiring law enforcement to help enforce federal immigration laws.
DeSantis’ proposals to limit the ability of ballot measure supporters to collect petitions and give lawyers the ability to block constitutional initiatives were unpopular among voters. 72% of those surveyed support citizen-led initiatives, and 76% want to keep the petition process in place.
Overall, the poll indicates that Florida Republican Primary voters strongly support Trump, the Legislature, and tough immigration policies, but are against limiting citizen-led initiatives. Despite the public disagreement between the Governor and lawmakers, the survey shows strong approval for their actions among Republican voters.
