Brian Ellis was a celebrated athlete and leader, known for his quarterback skills and commitment to team values. His success on the football field led him to the U.S. Naval Academy, where he played football and built lifelong friendships with his teammates. After graduation, he spent almost 22 years as a Marine Corps officer, serving as a helicopter pilot and instructor. Tragically, Ellis perished in a mid-air collision over Washington, D.C., along with 66 others.
Throughout his career, Ellis was known for his dedication to his friends and family. He remained close with his high school teammates, who affectionately referred to themselves as “the four musketeers.” Ellis was a devoted godfather to children in his friends’ families and was respected as a leader and mentor among his colleagues.
In his later years in the Marine Corps, Ellis managed public messaging and led a team focused on problem-solving through Red Teaming. After retiring as a Lt. Colonel, he joined Deloitte and continued his work in the professional services industry.
Ellis is survived by his wife, two sons, parents, and siblings, who remember him as a great friend, father, and leader. His untimely death was met with an outpouring of grief and memories from those who had the privilege of knowing him.
