An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a tragic accident on Saturday night in Boynton Beach. Jacob M. Chalmers collided with a fire truck that was responding to an emergency, with its siren and lights on. Chalmers, who was not wearing a helmet, was fatally injured in the crash. His passenger, Jordyn Alveus, was wearing a helmet and was critically injured, and was taken to Delray Medical Center for treatment.
The incident occurred on South Congress Avenue, with the fire truck traveling north and attempting to make a left turn. The motorcycle, traveling in the opposite direction, collided with the fire truck when it turned into its path. The impact occurred on the rear passenger side of the fire engine.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
