Carolina Amesty appears in federal court with new restrictions set by judge

Former Windermere Republican state Rep. Carolina Amesty was ordered to surrender her passport, dispose of any guns at her home, and refrain from going to Tallahassee as part of the conditions of her release. Facing federal charges for allegedly stealing COVID-19 relief loans, Amesty could face up to 10 years in prison for each count.

Amesty described the court proceedings as a religious prosecution and personal political attack. Judge Robert Norway denied her request to travel to Tallahassee for matters related to her former position as a state representative. Instead, she is only allowed to travel within certain districts in Florida.

Represented by Brad Bondi, brother of U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, Amesty is accused of using funds from the Carolina Amesty Foundation and Dinocar Auto Sales for personal expenses. False information was allegedly provided on loan applications, with the car company not even being properly licensed.

Amesty and an unnamed relative allegedly submitted multiple loan applications, totaling over $500,000 for various entities. She blamed the media and former President Joe Biden for the legal actions against her, vowing to fight the charges and defend her innocence and religious organizations.

The federal complaint outlines the alleged fraudulent activities and misrepresentation on loan applications. Amesty’s legal team is prepared to fight the prosecution and ensure the truth comes to light amidst the ongoing legal battle.
