Floridian Assistant Coach Accused of Sexual Assault Amid Investigation

The University of Florida is currently investigating allegations of sexual assault and Title IX violations against assistant men’s basketball coach Taurean Green and head coach Todd Golden. A female employee filed a complaint against Green, accusing him of kissing her and attempting to put his hand down her pants during a meeting in March 2024. This is the second known Title IX complaint against a member of the Florida men’s basketball coaching staff in the past four months.

The university is also investigating allegations against Golden, including claims of sending explicit photos, making unwanted sexual advances, and stalking. Two women have come forward with complaints against Golden, with one being a student at a college with a partnership program with Florida, and the other being a social acquaintance of the coach. The investigation is ongoing, and the university has denied requests for records pertaining to the complaints.

Golden, who joined the Gators staff in 2022, has continued to coach since the complaints were filed. He signed an extension to his contract in March 2024, but his contract includes provisions prohibiting romantic or sexual relationships between coaches and athletes. The university has stated that they take these matters seriously and conduct a thorough investigation process. The Title IX coordinator at Florida has not commented on how the law applies to complaints filed by nonstudents.
