Florida priest with 30 years of Air Force experience appointed as auxiliary for U.S. military archdiocese


Pope Francis appoints Father Gregg M. Caggianelli, a U.S. Air Force veteran, as auxiliary bishop of the U.S. Archdiocese for the Military Services. Bishop-designate Caggianelli, currently serving at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, holds the rank of colonel and is also a vice rector at a seminary in Florida. The appointment was announced by Cardinal Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States. The Archdiocese for the Military Services in Washington serves over 1.8 million Catholics worldwide in the military and government service.
