Two German shepherd puppies were rescued from under a home’s porch in Minnesota, seeking shelter from the freezing winter weather. The puppies, estimated to be between 12 and 14 weeks old, were found huddled together trying to stay warm as temperatures dropped below zero degrees with wind chills. The rescue was carried out by Ruff Start Rescue after homeowners discovered the puppies and reached out for help. The puppies sustained frostbite on their noses and paws but survived the ordeal. They were named Cleo and Delta by the rescue organization, with plans for adoption applications to open later. The puppies will be adopted separately to prevent littermate syndrome, which can lead to behavioral issues. The rescue team believes that the puppies were dumped due to their limited experience with human interaction and their unkempt appearance covered in burs and mud. Both puppies are currently being fostered by an experienced caretaker to help them acclimate and recover from their ordeal. The rescue organization is hopeful that Cleo and Delta will soon behave like typical puppies and find loving forever homes.
