Georgia Tech secures first-round bye in ACC tournament with victory over Miami Hurricanes, Sun Sentinel reports

In a dominating performance, Georgia Tech defeated Miami 89-74 on Tuesday night, with Lance Terry leading the way with a career-high 31 points. Georgia Tech has now won seven of its last nine games and secured a No. 8 seed and a first-round bye in the conference tournament. This marks the first time since the 2016-17 season that the Yellow Jackets have won 14 games. Miami, on the other hand, continues to struggle with a winless record on the road and a six-game losing streak.

Terry’s impressive shooting, making six 3-pointers and shooting 61% in the second half, was supported by Baye Ndongo’s 22 points and Duncan Powell’s 16 points. Matthew Cleveland led Miami with 29 points, while Brandon Johnson had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The game saw Georgia Tech taking the lead early on and maintaining it throughout, with a 46-30 halftime advantage. Terry’s 15 first-half points and Ndongo’s 12 helped secure the lead. Miami’s Cleveland and Swartz put up a tough fight with 15 and 10 points respectively in the first half.

Looking ahead, Miami will host N.C. State on Saturday, while Georgia Tech will play at Wake Forest in their regular-season finales. With their recent successes, the Yellow Jackets look poised for a strong showing in the upcoming conference tournament.
