High School Student from Florida Killed in Two-Car Collision


High school senior Sammy Lahik, recognized as a “super scholar,” tragically lost his life in a two-car accident in Florida. The incident also claimed the lives of three others, including the driver of the car he was riding in. According to reports, both vehicles were speeding and lost control before colliding. Lahik was ejected from the car upon impact and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Lahik, along with two others in the car, had just left Ramadan services before the accident. Known for his academic excellence, Lahik had recently been accepted to Duke University and was celebrated as an Orange County Public Schools “Super Scholar.” The school community at Windermere High School, where Lahik was a student, was devastated by the news of his passing. Grief counselors were on hand to support students and staff as they mourned the loss of a promising young life.

Imam Tariq Rasheed described Lahik and his companions as active and brilliant individuals who also exhibited kindness and warmth. The sudden tragedy has left the community in shock, as they remember a young man with a bright future ahead. The school district expressed their condolences to Lahik’s family and friends, emphasizing their commitment to providing support during this difficult time of grief and loss.
