Florida Road Rage Incident Involving Aluminum Baseball Bat and Flare Gun


A road rage incident in Ruskin, Florida, was captured on video, showing a driver using a baseball bat and a flare gun in a road battle. The altercation occurred around 10 a.m. on South U.S. Highway 41 at West College Avenue. The driver of a white van, identified as Leonard Cako, 47, approached the other vehicle with a bat, hitting and grabbing the other driver. In self-defense, the victim fired a flare gun, hitting Cako. He then struck the victim’s car with the bat before the victim drove away. Cako was arrested on charges of burglary of conveyance with assault or battery, aggravated assault of a victim over 65, and criminal mischief over $1,000. Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the incident, emphasizing the need to prevent road rage from escalating. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office urged drivers to remain calm and avoid confrontations on the road. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of road rage and the consequences of violent behavior while driving. Ruskin, located about 20 miles south of Tampa, has been the latest site of a disturbing road rage episode that authorities are working to address and prevent.
