Former Gators commit Jaelen Waters joins Hurricanes squad

Hurricanes’ new defensive backs coaches, Zac Etheridge and Will Harris, scored their first recruiting win with four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters committing to Miami. Waters, previously committed to Florida and Florida State, is ranked as the No. 15 cornerback in the class. The 6-1, 170-pound standout from Seffner Armwood had offers from top schools like Alabama and Georgia. Waters’ physicality and ability to shut down his side of the field impressed UM scouts. He had initially committed to FSU in 2024 but later chose UF. Waters will be visiting UM in June and joins Camdin Portis as the second cornerback in Miami’s 2026 class. The Hurricanes currently have five players in the class, ranking 26th nationally.
