Gov. Ron DeSantis has reappointed Thomas Hobbs and Brian McElfatrick to the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) board. Hobbs, the Chief of Staff for Port Tampa Bay and a member of the Florida Army National Guard, brings over 20 years of experience in Florida politics to the board. McElfatrick, a shareholder at Bush Ross law firm, is an experienced trial and appellate lawyer who represents corporations and individuals on business-related matters.
Hobbs holds an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary social science and a master’s degree in political science from Florida State University. He has worked in drug control policy in Gov. Jeb Bush’s Office and served in the Bush administration leading special projects. McElfatrick earned his undergraduate degree from Bates College and his law degree from Indiana University. He has been recognized as Florida’s “legal elite” and served as Chair of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
The HART board consists of 15 members representing Hillsborough County, the three incorporated cities within the county, and the state of Florida. The Governor is responsible for appointing the state representatives to the board. Hobbs and McElfatrick’s reappointments will bring their expertise and experience to the board as they work towards improving public transportation in the Hillsborough area.
