Florida Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Kamala Harris and Ilhan Omar on TikTok
Franklin Jarrell, a 59-year-old man from Florida, was arrested on Feb. 18 for making threatening comments towards former Vice President Kamala Harris and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on TikTok. In a series of deranged comments, Jarrell used racist language while threatening violence against the two politicians.
Jarrell’s comments included threats to kill Harris, mentioning having her address and claiming she would never see him coming. He also made derogatory remarks towards Omar, using violent and racist language in his posts. The FBI was alerted to these posts and was able to track down Jarrell through his email account and phone number associated with the account.
After a Secret Service agent reached out to Jarrell for an interview about his threatening posts, Jarrell became aggressive and threatened the agent over the phone. He was subsequently taken into custody by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and is facing charges of sending threatening communications in interstate commerce and making threats against a federal official.
Jarrell’s bond has been set at $100,000, and he remains in custody following his arrest. The arrest highlights the serious consequences of making threats online, especially towards public figures. Law enforcement agencies take such threats seriously and will hold individuals accountable for their actions. The case serves as a reminder to think before posting harmful or threatening content online.
