Florida State men’s basketball announces Luke Loucks as new head coach

Former Sacramento Kings assistant coach Luke Loucks has been named the new head coach of the Florida State University men’s basketball team, following the resignation of longtime head coach Leonard Hamilton. Loucks, a former standout player for the Seminoles, expressed his commitment to helping the team regain its former greatness and build a championship-level culture both on and off the court.

Loucks, a Clearwater native, has been rising through the coaching ranks since retiring as a player in 2016, starting as a player development intern for the Golden State Warriors. He then served as a player development coach for the Warriors before moving on to the Phoenix Suns’ front office for a season.

During his time as a player at FSU, Loucks was known for his skill as a distributor, racking up 391 career assists and playing a key role in a memorable game against Duke where he set up a game-winning shot by Michael Snaer.

Florida State Director of Athletics Michael Alford expressed excitement for the future under Loucks’ leadership, noting his unique combination of qualities that will benefit the program. Fans and alumni of Florida State basketball are eager to see what Loucks can bring to the team as head coach.
