The Miami Dolphins have seen key contributors to their recent playoff appearances find new homes in the NFL free agency market. Running back Raheem Mostert is signing a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, while tight end Durham Smythe is joining the Chicago Bears. Tight end Jack Stoll has also signed with the New Orleans Saints.
Mostert, who set a franchise record with 21 touchdowns in 2023, spent three seasons with the Dolphins under coach Mike McDaniel. However, his production decreased significantly last season due to injuries and the emergence of De’Von Achane. Smythe, the longest-tenured Dolphin after seven seasons, saw a drop in production as well, contributing 53 yards on nine receptions last year.
In addition to these departures, linebacker K.J. Britt will be joining the Dolphins from Tampa Bay, while Tyrel Dodson has been re-signed. The team has shown calm restraint in free agency so far, making strategic moves to bolster their roster.
Quarterback Zach Wilson, guard James Daniels, tackle Larry Borom, wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and defensive tackle Matt Dickerson are among the new signings for Miami. Several key players, including Quinton Bell at linebacker/edge rusher, Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis at safety, and Elijah Campbell at reserve safety, have also been re-signed or brought in to compete for starting roles.
The Dolphins are focusing on building a strong team for the upcoming season, making calculated moves to strengthen their roster in various key positions.
