Southwest Florida lawyers Amanda Levy-Reis and James Stewart have been appointed to the 20th Judicial Circuit Bench by Governor Ron DeSantis. Levy-Reis, a staff attorney for Florida Rural Legal Services, and Stewart, Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney, will succeed Judges Joseph Fuller and James Sloan. Fuller and Sloan recently resigned after many years of service on the bench. Levy-Reis and Stewart were selected by DeSantis from a list of 11 candidates recommended by the 20th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Levy-Reis holds a Juris Doctor from Stetson University while Stewart earned his Juris Doctor from Northeastern University. Both individuals have extensive experience in the legal field and are well-prepared to serve as judges in the 20th Judicial Circuit. Their appointments come at a time of transition for the judicial system in Southwest Florida, as two long-serving judges make way for new leadership.
