Baseball succumbs to late pressure, loses Saturday match to Jacksonville

In a heated matchup between North Florida and Jacksonville, the Dolphins emerged victorious with a 5-3 win on Saturday at Harmon Stadium. Despite a strong start from Bryson Treichel, North Florida was unable to hold off Jacksonville’s late rally. Trailing 2-1 in the seventh inning, Jacksonville made a comeback with a two-run single from Jonah Shields, taking a 3-2 lead. They further solidified their lead in the eighth with home runs from Chandler Howard and Carson Stevens. North Florida fought back in the ninth, with a run scored on an error, but Jacksonville’s Nick Anello struck out the final two Ospreys to secure the win.

Treichel put together an impressive performance, pitching six innings and striking out ten batters. However, it was Colin Rothermel of Jacksonville who ultimately claimed the win. Statistical leaders in the game included Carson Stevens and Josh Steidal for Jacksonville, and Nick Monile and Cade Bush for North Florida.

The two teams will face each other again for game three of the series on Mar. 16 at 10:30 a.m. Fans can catch the action on ESPN+ or stay updated on live stats and social media. With the series tied at 1-1, both teams will be looking to come out on top in what promises to be an exciting finale.
