Canadiens sail past Panthers in ongoing road trip

Montreal Canadiens emerged victorious against the Florida Panthers with a 3-1 win, led by Cole Caufield’s goal and assist. Patrik Laine and Christian Dvorak also contributed goals for the Canadiens, while Mackie Samoskevich scored for the Panthers. Goalie Sam Montembeault made 21 saves to secure the win. The Canadiens are now just one point away from playoff position with 71 points.

Laine opened the scoring with a power-play goal in the first period, followed by Caufield’s goal and Dvorak’s milestone 100th career goal in the third period. Despite a goal by Samoskevich, the Panthers were unable to secure a win, marking only their second loss in nine games.

Montreal’s top line continued their strong performance, with Caufield and Suzuki combining for 40 points in their last 10 games. The Panthers, missing key players like Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Marchand, were unable to overcome the Canadiens’ offense.

One of the key moments of the game was after Dvorak’s goal when Canadiens fans started doing the wave and chanting “Olé, Olé, Olé” for 10 minutes, creating an electric atmosphere in the arena.

The Panthers will look to bounce back when they visit the New York Islanders next, while the Canadiens will aim to continue their push for a playoff spot.
