Governor Ron DeSantis advocates for Joseph Ladapo to be appointed to the CDC

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is recommending his Surgeon General, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Donald Trump administration. This recommendation comes as former Congressman Dave Weldon did not move forward in the process. DeSantis has previously advocated for Ladapo to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Ladapo, who campaigned for DeSantis in the last presidential race, has been vocal about vaccines and their side effects. As the second Surgeon General under the DeSantis administration, Ladapo has expressed concerns about mRNA vaccines for COVID-19, as well as flu and measles shots. The mutual admiration between DeSantis and Ladapo continues to grow, with Ladapo even suggesting that he wants First Lady Casey DeSantis to be Governor in the future. With Ladapo’s background as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida, DeSantis believes he would be a “fantastic selection” to lead the CDC. Despite some Republican senators not supporting Weldon’s nomination, DeSantis remains confident in Ladapo’s capabilities and his ability to lead the nation’s health agency.
