Florida Men’s Basketball Players Earn All-District Honors
Three Florida men’s basketball players have received All-District honors for the Southeast region, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday. Senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. and sophomore forward/center Alex Condon were both named to the first team, while graduate guard Alijah Martin was honored on the second team.
The accolades come after a successful season for the Florida Gators, who finished with 30 wins and won the SEC Tournament. The team is now gearing up for NCAA Tournament play, with high hopes for a deep run.
Clayton leads the Gators in scoring, assists, and 3-point field goals, while Condon is the team’s top rebounder and shot-blocker. Martin is praised for his defensive skills and well-rounded offensive contributions.
Clayton, a native of Lake Wales, Fla., was named SEC Tournament MVP after his outstanding performance in Nashville. Condon, from Perth, Australia, has previously earned All-SEC honors, while Martin made the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year top 10 list.
This year marks the second consecutive year that the Gators have had multiple NABC All-region players, with Clayton and Zyon Pullin earning honors last year. The new NABC Division I district alignment system groups schools by state rather than by conference.
Overall, it was a successful season for the Gators, with the three All-District honorees standing out as a testament to the team’s talent and hard work. Head coach Bruce Pearl of Auburn was also named Coach of the Year for the Southeast District.
