Two 16-year-old girls who went missing while paddleboarding in Florida have been found alive after being reported missing on Monday, March 17. The Levy County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the teenagers were located about 14 miles southeast of Cedar Key, near Yankeetown. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of their disappearance. The girls were seen paddling towards Cedar Key on a black and white paddleboard before they went missing. The LCSO Marine Unit, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the U.S. Coast Guard had been searching for the girls. They were found by a good Samaritan at around 8:30 a.m. The Coast Guard had assisted in the search, covering over 1000 square miles. Both girls were found with only scratches and cold but otherwise healthy. The FWC did not provide any additional comments. The LCSO shared a photo of the girls on the rescue boat after they were found. The girls’ safe return has ended the search and brought relief to their families and the community.
