Wide receiver River Cracraft has signed with the Seattle Seahawks after spending the last three seasons with the Miami Dolphins. The Seahawks announced the addition on Friday, highlighting Cracraft’s reputation as the Dolphins’ best blocking wide receiver. His history with coach Mike McDaniel, dating back to their time together in San Francisco, likely played a role in the decision.
However, Cracraft’s 2024 season was hampered by injury, limiting him to just seven receptions for 66 yards and no touchdowns in eight games. In his three years with the Dolphins, he recorded 25 receptions for 289 yards and three touchdowns, playing around 25 percent of the team’s offensive snaps.
Cracraft’s departure creates a gap in the Dolphins’ wide receiver depth, which may prompt them to seek more proven options. While they have returning starters like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, as well as promising talent in Malik Washington and newly-signed Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, the team may still be looking for experienced depth at the position.
Joining the Seahawks holds a special significance for Cracraft as he played college football at Washington State, located relatively close to Seattle. With his experience and familiarity with Coach McDaniel, Cracraft’s addition to the Seahawks could bring a valuable asset to their receiving corps.
