A new exhibition in Paris is celebrating the history of fashion through the outfits of Snoopy and his sister Belle. Titled “Snoopy In Style,” the exhibition showcases seventy-five outfits created for the soft toy versions of the beloved Peanuts characters, designed by top fashion designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Betsey Johnson, and Zac Posen.
The exhibit pays tribute to Charles M. Schulz and his iconic creations, exploring the evolution of the characters’ outfits and their impact on popular culture ahead of the 75th anniversary of the “Peanuts” comic strip on Oct. 2. Schulz’s widow, Jeannie Schulz, highlighted the importance of characters having a distinct style to represent themselves.
The show also features vintage fashion inspired by Snoopy and friends, as well as a “King Snoopy” statue and vintage Peanuts merchandise dating back to the 1960s. The exhibition, running from March 22 through April 5 at Hôtel du Grand Veneur in Paris, showcases the embrace of Peanuts as a fashion brand in Europe, in contrast to its recognition in the United States for classic television specials.
Jeannie Schulz expressed the enduring appeal of Peanuts characters, noting their relatability and the representation of humanity in the comic strip. The free exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of fashion, popular culture, and beloved characters from the Peanuts universe.
