Investigation Launched at Florida Marine Park Following Concerning Reports of Dolphins

An investigation is underway at Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach, Florida, following reports of concerns regarding the health, welfare, and enclosure conditions of the bottlenose dolphins at the park. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has revealed that park personnel denied them entry to conduct a wellness check on the dolphins and view their enclosures, as the enclosures fall under federal jurisdiction.

While the species and enclosures at the park under state authority were found to be compliant with the law, the FWC is continuing to investigate the matter with the help of federal partners. The park has been referred to all state-level licensing agencies that may license other components of the facility.

The FWC emphasized their commitment to the health and welfare of Florida’s wildlife, including saltwater marine mammals. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to address any potential issues at Gulf World Marine Park.

The park has not issued a statement in response to the investigation. Stay tuned for further updates as the investigation unfolds.
