Citrus County deputies have arrested Derrius Deon Orr, 23, for firing a gun near the fairgrounds as people were leaving the fair last week. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, March 28, 2025, near Airport Road in Citrus Hills. Orr, described as a man with dark skin wearing a hoodie, fled the scene and evaded law enforcement officers. Shell casings were found at the scene, and Orr was wanted for discharging a firearm in public and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Deputies, along with a K-9 unit, located Orr at a home on West Liberty Street in Citrus Hills, where he eventually surrendered after a standoff. He is currently being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility with no bond. Sheriff Vincent thanked the community for their assistance in the investigation and commended the detectives for their diligent work in gathering witness statements and crucial information to make the arrest. Sheriff Vincent expressed pride in the dedication of everyone involved in ensuring the safety of the community and stopping Orr before he caused serious harm.
