One person has died, four have been rescued, and five remain missing after a boat capsized off the coast of Florida over the weekend. The U.S. Coast Guard responded to reports of an overturned vessel near the St. Lucie Inlet in Martin County. Four survivors were found approximately 29 miles offshore, thanks to a good Samaritan who reported the incident. One person was pronounced dead, and the other four survivors were transported for further evaluation, with one in serious condition. Three of the survivors had non-life-threatening injuries. The missing individuals are still being searched for, and the rescue efforts are ongoing. The boat had reportedly taken off from the Bahamas before the incident occurred. Both the Martin County Fire Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard are involved in the search and rescue operation. Further details about the incident have not been disclosed at this time.
